What are Monolithic Panels in EPS?
An introductory overview of the Monolithic Panel construction system in EPS, popularly known as "isopor" (Styrofoam), and how it is composed.
EPS: the technical name for "isopor"
EPS stands for expanded polystyrene — the technical name for the material popularly known in Brazil as "isopor" (similar to what is called Styrofoam in English). In this blog, we prefer to use the technical term "EPS" to refer to the material, while making clear that it is the same material popularly called "isopor".
It is important to note that "isopor" is not the technical name of the complete construction system: EPS is one of the components of the Monolithic Panel system, not the system itself.
What Monolithic Panels are
Monolithic Panels are a construction system made of an EPS core combined with steel mesh, receiving a structural coating applied according to the project's design and technical specifications for each site.
The system's performance depends on the design, sizing and proper execution in each case — there is no universal structural solution applicable to any project without prior analysis.
Why consider the system
Among the points frequently considered by ADIC Engenharia's clients are faster assembly, a more streamlined construction process and the possibility of planning the project in advance. Each of these aspects depends on the design and execution of each case.
This content is informative and does not replace technical analysis, design, professional responsibility or guidance specific to each project.
